GUILD ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our February 2nd meeting will include a demonstration on plying. Nancy Shedden, Penny Tschantz, and Erin Kramer will be leading this.
March 2 we will just have Show and Tell.
For our September 7th meeting we will have a new Challenge. This time get your needles out to knit Socks. We want to give everyone plenty of time to finish their socks. Use any pattern you want. This is not a contest, just a fun way of sharing a specific project. We have many good knitters in our group who would be glad to help if you have never knitted socks. This is a great time to learn and participate in a fun challenge.
(Webmistress Note: If anyone is looking for a good book for getting started with sock knitting I really like Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. Craftsy also has a Knit Sock Workshop with Donna Drachunas that looks promising for visual learners who like interactive class formats. For more DIY leaning types YouTube also hosts several good sock knitting tutorials like VeryPink Knits Learn to Knit Socks series and Knit Picks’ Kelley’s Sock Class with Kelley Petkun. For established sock knitters some books that focus on knitting socks from handspun are the Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook by Lynne Vogel, Spin Off Presents Knit Your Socks e-book, and Ann Budd ‘s article “A Second Look: Handspun Socks” in this past summer’s issue of Spin Off.
