He’ll card up enough so everyone who participates in the small group can have a try at spinning some of each. Those who want to participate should bring their spinning device and something to take notes on. This Focus Group will begin promptly at 10:00 AM for folks who are interested in giving Alpaca a try.
Upcoming Guild Programs:
- March: Program: Mitt(en) Challenge. The March 7th meeting will be “The Mitt Challenge” Knit, Crochet, Weave or Construct a pair of Mittens, Fingerless Mits or some variant of a glove from your hand spun yarn. This is not a competition, it is an opportunity to challenge yourself to create something “special” with your hand spun to share with our Guild members. We hope you will participate in this quick and easy challenge. Please mark your item with the type of fiber you used, the technique for spinning and plying (e.g. worsted, S spun, Z plied, two ply), the pattern you used for your project and the source and maybe how many oz. it took.

We have once again been invited to demonstrate at the Rossini Festival in Knoxville on April 25. At the last meeting we voted to participate in it this year. I am requesting volunteers for demonstrating at the festival. We usually do 2-hour shifts with two people at each slot starting at noon (12-2; 2-4;4-6;6-8). I will set up and take down the booth at the end. We usually have two wheels that remain with the booth for the day. One is the guild Ashford and the other is my Ashford. We will have the guild quilts on display as well as hand cards, drop spindles and some different types of fiber to spin with. You are welcome to bring your own fiber or use what is provided – usually some alpaca and wool. Please let me know if you would like to participate and what your preferred times are. It is a great atmosphere for spinning, eating, and getting cultured!
From Deborah Adams:
